If you’re joining me in the hunt for a new smartphone, perhaps T-Mobile’s LG DoublePlay™ might be worth a look.
The first thing I noticed about the DoublePlay is its real QWERTY keyboard. I’m not a fan of touch-screen keyboards; I always type the wrong letter, and then AutoCorrect kicks in and instead of writing “Bellesouth” I somehow end up producing words like “Velocity” or “Brainiac” or “Nachos.”
It’s very difficult because I spend a good time each month sending texts, tweeting, checking in, snapping photos, answering emails and posting on other social Networking sites and I need what’s best for me.
The DoublePlay runs Android’s Gingerbread 2.3 platform, and the keyboard slides out from a full screen, so it does allow completely touch-type capabilities if you have one free hand, AND is equipped with SWYPE so you can easily move your fingers from one letter to the next. My friends who did not take typing classes swear by this method. You can also enter text using Android’s integrated voice-recognition feature.
If you’ll notice, that keyboard is split with an extra touchscreen, from which you can easily access Facebook, Twitter, email and your social networking sites, so if you’re a social-networking junkie like me you can easily multitask just by clicking another icon on the extra screen.
The Gingerbread operating system comes with nine customizable touch-screens, on which you can customize your phone and swipe through your most important apps from the home screen. It also comes equipped with texting and chat options like Group Text and Cloud Text, so you can receive texts from a PC or Tablet or organize group chats while you’re on-the-go.
The phone is also equipped with a 5 megapixel digital camera for taking quality, high-resolution photos that you can easily send to Twitter, your Picasa album, or any other web service.
This would completely revolutionize the way I use my phone! Because I am a multitasker with everything in my life, it’d make it a lot easier to move from task to task while I’m on the go. The world needs more phones like this! Give it a look and see if it’s the right phone for you.
How much time do you spend navigating social networks or texting on your phone? How do you think the LG DoublePlay could change the way you text or interact with social networks?
