Hello, fellow Arkies! I’ve got some great news on the upcoming sales tax holiday AND some tips on how you can avoid the crowded stores and shop for your needed items at home! From the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration:
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday August 4, 2012, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday August 5, 2012, the State of Arkansas will hold its sales tax holiday allowing shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain School Supplies, School Art Supplies, School Instructional Materials, and clothing free of state and local sales or use tax.
If you are worried about crowds and lines in the stores, here is some relief: Online purchases are included!!! So you can shop anywhere online and as long as the shipping address is in the state of Arkansas, you will be exempt from sales tax.
Click here for a list of all items exempt from tax during the holiday. It also includes items that are NOT exempt.
That expands your shopping possibilities tremendously! For your convenience, you can go through my Marketplace to find stores where you can purchase supplies from places like Target, Office Depot, Walmart, Sam’s Club and even school uniform suppliers! There are lots of great stores for teachers, too!
I will also update this post to include all kinds of back-to-school deals as they come to me, so keep it bookmarked!
