But there are plenty of other ballot measures you need to be made aware of, and let your friends in said states know how much you care.
For example, in Arizona there is Proposition 102, a constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. This is apparently the second time such a measure has faced the ballot.
In Arkansas, Initiated Act 1 would prohibit unmarried couples from adopting or fostering children. This is mainly to keep gay couples from adopting, but would also include cohabitating couples, and may include single people. This would be for public and private adoptions.
Here’s an ad that Arkansas Families First put together on Initiated Act 1.
In Colorado, Amendment 48 would change the definition of ‘person’ in the Colorado Constitution to include any fertilized egg, embryo or fetus.
I found some snazzy celebrified video saying “no on 48,” but I think this message from an actual OB/GYN is much more powerful.
There are a number of other measures – some of which are not as well-advertised as others. Be an informed voter. Go to Ballotpedia to look up your state and what measures will be on the ballot when you go and vote Tuesday.
