Review: Covergirl Blastflipstick

I’ve never really been a fan of lipstick. I can never seem to get the right shade, the applicator is weird and often gets my lipstick in places nowhere near my mouth, and eventually I end up with another discolored lipstick shade that just ends up in the trash.

So, for many a moon, I’ve been the fan of the lip color palette, in which I’ve been able to blend and blend and blend until I get a shade perfect just for me. But the main problem with lip palettes is that often they come without mirrors, so you have to be an expert to do a touch-up when you’re on the go.

Then I had the opportunity to try out Cover Girl Blastflipstick. And

lemme tell ya – I’m in love. Blastflipstick is two lipsticks in one. As you can see in this photo, there are two lovely complimentary shades you can use either alone, or blending together to get the perfect look for you.

This is what I love about it:

The design. First of all, you can see the colors from outside the package, so you know what you’re getting. Secondly, I love how you can apply one shade, flip it around and there’s another one that you can use to either tone down your lips, maybe add a bright glow to the center of your lips or just mix and mingle until you get a shade that’s perfect for you.

The application. This lipstick glides on smoothly, and also isn’t too wide for those of us who do not happen to have Angelina Jolie’s lips. I love that it isn’t too waxy, it is definitely moisturizing, and it just feels good to wear! I find myself smacking my lips together just to remind myself of how good it feels.

2012-12-01 04.26.29Blastflipstick comes in a variety of shades, so buy one and declare it the perfect match, or buy a bunch and blend yourself crazy. The one thing I do NOT like about Blastflipstick is that once you apply one side of the flipstick, the other side is immediately going to get that shade on it. And it’s not like we can sit around and wait for our lips to dry, am I right, ladies? So if that annoys you, maybe get out the trusty lip brush. But again, the whole point of this is to eliminate the need for a lip brush!

And how is it look? Here’s a non-photoshopped image of me wearing she shade “Vixen.”

How’s about that?

Blastflipstick is available for between $7.99 and $9.49 in drugstores – a bit high-priced for a drugstore lipstick, but well worth it.  The lowest price I’ve found is at, which is currently offering it at $7.99 with a BOGO 50% off deal for this new item.

These would make EXCELLENT stocking stuffers or party favors for your girlfriends. Lipstick is fun again! Huzzah!

I enjoyed the benefits of being a Bzzagent by receiving complimentary product from Covergirl for this review.
