Keep this one bookmarked or pinned for next year. I had to wait until after Santa arrived to post it so you could see how Sebastian reacts.
I learned early on that dogs LOVE opening presents almost as much as they love what’s inside the wrapping! Letting your dog unwrap his presents not only gives him some busywork and lets him get out some energy; it also makes for cheap entertainment. So here you go.
What you need for this is tissue paper for gift wrapping. It’s recyclable, cheap and easy for your dog to play with.
Lay your gift down on the paper like so:
Then roll the gift up.
You may need to add more paper if it’s too translucent.
Then twist your wrapping at the ends like a piece of candy. You can also tie it at the ends using scrap yarn after twisting.
Then pile all Santy Paws’ gifts together.
Sebastian must be a genius, because he never unwraps the presents that aren’t his! But once he sees his loot, it’s on.
Here’s an example of The Great Christmas Destruction from last year.
When Sebastian has finally unwrapped and conquered his present, he usually carries it to what he refers to as “home base.” Known to you and me as “the couch.”
And that’s how you do it. I love this method because I suck at wrapping gifts and this is so simple and gives him one more thing to play with.
