Learn German at your pace with Rocket German Premium – Review and Giveaway

I was provided with product for this review. All opinions are my own.

Another week, another comprehensive language app giveaway! This time it’s for Rocket German Premium, and if you want to learn German for school, travel or just to be able to watch Das Boot without looking at the subtitles most of the time, this might be the app for you. Check out my review and the details for this amazing giveaway will be right up.

I took German for a couple of terms in college. For me, it was a difficult class because 1) it was way too early in the morning, and 2) I often mixed it up with my French lessons from high school. It’s easy to go back and forth once you work towards being even quasi-multi-lingual.

But now I am out of college for nearly two decades, without the stress and anxiety of knowing someone is going to test me, and I have access to Rocket German Premium – which is an AMAZING interactive, online program that allows you to learn German from your desktop or mobile device.

One of the keys (and difficulties) with German is that even though it is a Western European language, the alphabet is modified (with letters like “ß” – what is that?! It’s a sharp S, by the way) the sounds the letters make are phonetically different, there are lots of throaty and guttural sounds in the language, and if you’re just listening to someone speak the language slowly enough for you to learn it, you may have a difficult time pronouncing it back.

This is why I LOVE that all the Rocket Language lessons come with accompanying transcripts. You can actually read what they are saying as they are saying it. This really helps you learn the language – not just for simple phrases like telling someone you are from the United States – but even if you hear or read new words when you’re on your trip or watching that film.

Language is fluid and it is living, and Rocket Languages embraces that idea. It also understands that YOU are fluid and living – and that’s why I love that you can learn at your own pace. There are audio lessons of about 20 minutes each, audio sections for transcripts of the conversations and words covered in each lesson, and even an option for you to record your own voice to compare it to how it should be pronounced.

I love the pace this program takes. It has 120+ learning hours, and it’s extremely easy to navigate so you can put yourself on whatever track fits your lifestyle.

I wish I had Rocket German when I was in college and learning German. It truly is a new and unique way to teach yourself such an interesting language. Along with Rocket French, I intend to go through all these lessons in the hopes that I can memorize Run Lola Run perfectly one day. Maybe?

And now, The Giveaway!! This program has an ARV of $99.99 and if you want to learn German or know anyone who does, you will definitely want this! Giveaway ends 2/26/15 at midnight and there are daily entries!

Viel glück!

I’ve always wanted to learn German because my grandpa’s parent came from Germany just before he was born. I have letters from them that I’d love to read one day.

Like you, I studied German in college and I really enjoyed it. The only problem was that this class takes up so much of your time, and it wasn’t my major. I still remember bits of it and regret that I really couldn’t have much of a conversation with German friends. My family is from Germany, they moved from Germany around WWI, and there are documents and a family tree with information, and a German family bible that I’d like to read.

It is one of the languages I have never attempted, so it intrigues me.

I’m part German and tried taking it in high school, but like most highschoolers I didn’t really retain much. I would love to finally learn it.
