They really did help shape hip-hop as it is today and managed to make it cross cultural and social boundaries.
When I was in high school I had a Beastie Boys T-shirt that said “Aloha Mr. Hand” on the back.
I gave it to my brother, who lingered and longed for it because of its clever reference to Fast Times at Ridgemont High on the back.
I wish I had it right now.
Knowing Hocks, he probably wore it for many years until it had holes all in it and his wife made him throw it away or use it as a dust rag.
BTW, am I the only one who was for certain that the Beastie Boys would be forever preserved with their heads in jars? Or was I the only one who saw that episode of Futurama?
And now, my favorite Beastie Boys song.
