I was given complimentary product for this review. All opinions are my own.
After trying The Dukan Diet Turkey Jerky for the first time, I came up with a new term: “Jerky Purist.” I have no empirical data to prove this, but I have a hunch that there are a few jerky purists out there. They want their jerky to be meaty, tough, and to take no prisoners. No preservatives to make it soft, ingredients you are familiar with, and something that would be great with a bottle of Gatorade on a hike or kayaking trip. And that’s what I felt like when I ate this product. It’s good, and if you only want jerky in its purest form, you will LOVE it.
What I love about this jerky is that it is an extremely filling snack at 100 calories per ounce. The entire bag is three ounces, so if you scarf it down in a few minutes, you won’t have snacking guilt. I also love that it has extremely limited ingredients: Turkey, Soy Sauce, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Red Pepper (for the Hot and Spicy flavor). Nothing else.
Even though the jerky claims to be sliced thin, I have had thinner Turkey Jerky than this. This is still a pretty rugged jerky, and as you can see here, it’s got perforations so you can tear it apart if you happen to be obsessive about that sort of thing. I just used my teeth and ripped right through ’em. Be prepared to sharpen your fangs because this stuff is TOUGH.
But tasty – it’s got a great, meaty flavor – and honestly, if you’re used to beef jerky, this is a great alternative. Personally, I prefer Turkey Jerky. That makes me NOT a jerky purist, I’m sure. But this stuff is absolutely tasty, and the packaging is extremely sturdy, so it’s great for your outdoor adventures.
You can currently purchase The Dukan Diet Turkey Jerky for $6.99 from the official website. Pretty decent price for what you’re getting!
