Review: Lifeguard MINI 1 Portable Charger

I was given product for this review. All opinions are my own.

Many of you know my rule about portable device chargers: You can NEVER have too many. The Lifeguard MINI 1 may not be the most advanced portable charger in the market, but it is a solid product for when you just need to hold a charge on one device.

Like any basic portable chargers, the Lifeguard MINI 1 fits in your hand has one micro USB port and one USB port. It comes with a micro-USB cable and an iOS-compatible lightning cable. I recommend plugging in your Lifeguard MINI 1 overnight before using it, as it does take a while to carry a full charge.

One issue I ran into is that the charger became very warm while I was charging it, so I suggest keeping it away from, say, a power strip that has a lot of other cords plugged into it. Once I moved it, it was just slightly warm, which is to be expected with these chargers.

For us Android and Kindle users, another important thing about these chargers is making sure the cords actually fit into AND work with your device. I have had quite a few issues with other chargers having cords with Micro USB plugs that work just fine when powering up the charger, but switch ports and the cord is completely unable to charge your device. (You will see a LOT of this in Amazon reviews of chargers, so keep this in mind and ask questions!) I didn’t have that problem with the Lifeguard MINI 1. Even though if I encountered this problem it could easily be remedied by using any of my existing cords, it’s nice to know I have something in the box, ready to plug in, that avoids this issue altogether.

You can purchase the Lifeguard MINI 1 Portable charger here. At $21.97, it is a great price for a single-device charger that comes with all the device cables you need, AND an 18-month money-back warranty. Trust me – as someone who goes through chargers like tissues, this matters!

I keep saying we need to pick one of these up. For whatever reason, our car charger doesn’t work right in our van and has caused the battery to die too many times. I think the only thing holding me back is wondering if its still going to have a charge when I need to use it? Does it need to be charged right before expected usage and then used lets say within 2-3 days or does it just hold the charge indefinitely and I could take it camping and not worry because it will for sure keep an available charge for me.

I have a couple chargers and have never been really satisfied. There is always some issue–I don’t like the fact that this one gets warm after a bit. But not sure there really is a perfect one. Thanks fort he review

I like the price but not the fact that it heats up.
