Tricks of the trade at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and how to get 20 free tokens!

My first job was at Chuck E. Cheese’s. I spent a couple of months before college wearing a uniform and a visor, busing tables, counting tickets, and saying, “I know” whenever some kid came up to me to inform me that Chuck E. was just a guy in a rat suit.

In my short time there, I did learn many tricks of the trade. Namely, how to win the best prizes and get the most bang for your buck.

It’s no secret that Chuck E. Cheese’s is essentially a casino for kids. There are loud bells and whistles, cool video games, tons of noise and all kinds of other things that kids absolutely love and parents have to do at some point while their kid is growing up.

The main point of Chuck E. Cheese’s is to have fun. If you win something, Awesome! But if you really do want to win a whole bunch of tickets, follow this advice. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but it does have the greatest chance of high payout.

Play the games with the rotating lights. One of the most popular ones is the Cyclone, but this game comes in many varieties. Cyclone Arcade GameThink of it as the “Press Your Luck” of ticket-dispensing games. You have to follow the pattern of the lights as they travel rapidly in a circle.

You have to think fast. And you need to prepare to press the giant button at the exact moment when the light lands on the jackpot. Do so, and you can win HUNDREDS of tickets at a time.

Your mileage may vary, and I have been to some places where the machines have been rigged in their favor. But usually, the ones at Chuck E. Cheese’s have a great payout. Thankfully, this is Chuck E. Cheese’s and not Caesar’s Palace, so you’re probably not going to be escorted out of the place by security for winning too many tickets.

I also suggest playing this game if you’re an adult and joining the kids for more fun games like Skeeball, Whack-A-Mole, etc. Those other games are really more about having fun and don’t have that much of a good payoff.

I spent a lot of my time at Chuck E. Cheese’s working the merchandise counter, and everyone who approached me with hundreds of tickets attributed it to the Cyclone. Several years later, I attended a kid’s birthday party and was able to use this method to win tons of tickets for the birthday boy and his brother. They were the coolest kids in the restaurant!

Now that you have this tip, take it, use it at your child’s next trip to Chuck E. Cheese’s, and let me know if it works for you. But keep in mind – the machines could be rigged and this isn’t an absolute guarantee but I can say these machines have the highest payout of anything in the game room.

I can’t stress enough that these places are about having fun, and that these games aren’t designed for you to win more than you pay.
