I joke with my friends on Facebook that I spend about a third of my life at Walgreens. While I don’t work there, it is right down the street, always open, and is where my mother keeps her prescriptions. So when I went in full-on caregiver mode this spring, I spent lots of valuable time at my local Walgreens store, purchasing prescriptions, medical supplies and other goods for the family.
Even though it’s just me, mom and the dog, we have a lot of things we need around the home to encourage and maintain our health, so I love that there are a bunch of Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products that are several dollars cheaper than their brand-name counterparts, often on sale and just as good.
As an allergy sufferer, I appreciate Wal-Zyr (Walgreens’ version of Zyrtec) and Walgreens’ various vitamins and supplements that help me out when the pollen is high. My mother used the Walgreens-brand syringes to administer her insulin before switching to the pen, but we now keep a supply of Walgreens-brand glucose products. When her blood sugar went to dangerously low levels in the spring, Walgreens’ flavored glucose gel helped save her life until the ambulance arrived, and has since helped her during a sugar-low when we’re out and about.
Even the dog benefits from Walgreens’ products. Last year, when Sebastian got all his vaccinations at once and was shaking and shivering with reactions the next day, I took the vet’s advice and used Walgreens-brand baby aspirin and checked his temperature using a Walgreens thermometer. These all saved lots of money at the cash register and also helped my Best Friend get better in no time.
I was doing all this stuff for my family, but in this promotion I’ve found out that proceeds from Walgreens-Brand Health and Wellness Products to toward the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.
According to Walgreens, The Fund will provide free preventive health tests, as well as other health and wellness services and education to local communities. Some of these services will include preventive screenings through the National Urban League Health & Wellness Tour, and vouchers redeemable in select stores.
Walgreens will contribute up to $3 million annually to the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™. While I wish the company would not have a cap and instead donated portions of proceeds from every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness products that exceed the cap, it is a good start – especially during a time when so many Americans like me are without health insurance and try our best to find low-cost services where possible.
Purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.

I can find similar products in other stores, but I would either have to drive all over town to pick everything up, or I’d find similar products in a larger store with much less convenience and much more hassle. After some serious scares earlier this year, I am so thankful that I have a place that is always open and always stocked with products I need.
