Today the White House announced HealthCare.Gov, where you can go and investigate how the new Health Reform Law affects you.
I just went to peruse the site and immediately saw a place where I could look into Insurance options for me. Americans who are currently uninsured don’t really have many options just yet, as the real reform won’t kick in for a little more than three years. But it is good to see everything outlined. For example, if you have been denied for a pre-existing condition and can prove it with a letter or some other form of proof, you may be eligible to enter a High-Risk Pool in your state. Keep in mind those high-risk pools are really expensive, so it really just depends on if your monthly health expenses would be alleviated by this.
It says plainly the site is in its infancy, and that more will be added to it – and it is looking for your help to improve upon it. In October it will begin listing pricing options for private insurance.
There’s also a tab called “Understanding the New Law,” where you can watch a video and get your questions answered about the new law.
