Humidity is no stranger to my hair. I’m so glad there have been many developments for curly-headed gals like me, including the tourmaline ceramic straightening iron and frizz-free products.
But, straight or curly, it’s hard to keep a beautiful head of hair when humidity happens. One sticky day can turn my hair into cotton candy in an instant. And most women should -not- wash their hair every day. It dries it out, it causes color-treated hair to fade, and it ruins it. It’s like taking a power-washer to your car every day; it’s going to lose its luster if you keep doing that.
There are now a number of dry-shampoo products, including TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo that are WONDERFUL for those of us who don’t want to wash our hair every day but still want it looking and smelling fresh. TRESemme is unique in that it has an entire LINE of dry shampoos that are suited for every type of hair. Check ’em out:
Strengthening Dry Shampoo has B12 vitamins and keratin to give strength and body to your hair.
Volumizing Dry Shampoo has mineral clay and citrus. TRESemme claims the shampoo removes oil while injecting hair with salon-gorgeous volume.
Smoothing Dry Shampoo has Vitamin H & Silk Proteins that, according to TRESemme, “(refresh) your straight style by removing excess oil, impurities and odor to ensure your smooth look lasts. This is the one I wanna try!
Moisturizing Waterless Foam Shampoo has Witch Hazel, Citrus, and Aloe Vera. TRESemme says it “refreshes your hair by removing excess oil, impurities and odor while moisturizing hair.” Sounds excellent for fellow curly-girls like me!
All shampoos in the line have citrus added to add a fresh scent to your hair.
Youtube Celebrity Elle Fowler has even added TRESemme Fresh Start to her Top Hair Products for School and has teamed up with TRESemme for this tutorial video that shows you how to use dry shampoo. Check it out:
Finally, here are some tips on how to get the best out of your dry shampoo:
– Do shake vigorously before use and in between spray bursts for best results.
– Do lift sections of dry hair and spray lightly at roots
– Do spray in short bursts, holding 8-12 inches from head
– Don’t spray it like hair spray (all over and continuously)
– Do leave in for 1-2 minutes.
– Do use fingertips or a brush to distribute product evenly
– If clogging occurs, remove nozzle and rinse the nozzle under warm water, then reattach.
If you have not yet discovered the wonder that is dry shampoo, I invite you to head to your closest drug or grocery store and buy some. It truly is a miracle-worker!
