If you’re in northwest Arkansas and are attending WordCamp Fayetteville this year, I invite you to come to my session, “How to make money blogging. No, really!” at 11 a.m. July 28 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development on the University of Arkansas campus.
This will be my first year attending a Wordcamp, I only began using WordPress in December 2011! However, I have been maintaining web sites for more than 15 years, blogging for more than a decade, and monetizing my blog for nearly four years. Since I moved from Blogger to WordPress my income has increased exponentially, so you’re on the right track already if you’re going to Wordcamp!
We’ll go over a lot of topics, and I’ll give you the basics on where to start, how to build a following and how to start attracting brands and advertisers. I’ll also share with you some companies that bridge the gap between bloggers and brands and can get you sponsored content for your blog, and even your Twitter and Facebook feeds!
I’ll also tell you about the importance of disclosure, FTC guidelines and the meaning (and importance) of “no-follow” links.
I’m always sad to see a site have to shut down because the administrator can’t pay to keep it up anymore. I won’t lie – my web site has taken a lot of investment, and if you want to blog as a job, you have to work at it as if it’s your job. And attracting sponsors and advertisers is part of that, as it is with any form of media.
Click here for tickets. Even if you don’t attend my session, I think you’ll get a lot of great info from some excellent people who know WordPress inside and out.
Hope to see you there! Also, if you have any questions you would like answered, feel free to send me a message at bellesouthblogs at gmail dot com or through my Facebook Page. I’ve got three weeks to get my presentation together, and I want this session to be for YOU!
